Bint Mbareh is curious about sound, community, and how communities that make sounds together (from the capoeira roda to the thikr circle) play various roles in melding time, the seasons, the future, and notions of progress. Her initial research is about rain summoning music in Palestine and how it can be used to manipulate the weather cycles and the changing of the seasons. More recently, Bint Mbareh has turned to exploring the theme of death through the medium of film and sound. Funded by Cafe Oto, she has made a short film and performance about the procession of Nabi Musa. She has performed with Al-Hazeema at Arab Women Artists Now, London's EFG Jazz festival, Brave Poets, and has taken part in Young Shubbak's Sawa,Sawa platform with a participatory piece about the broken sounds of resistance to authority. She has also published writing on time-bending and transcendence inn Khidr Zine, and Tariff Magazine.
Shamma aka ‘Smoked poets' is a kashmiri, street poet and performer from East London.
Her main body of work relies upon collective participation with musicians, rappers, animators, visual artists and video artists. Using grassroot projects and platforms to amplify working class and immigrant culture, Her poetry has been exhibited at the Tate Modern and San Francisco, south Asian cultural festival, focusing on diaspora arts.
Smoked poets lyrics signify a fight between the contradictions of a hybrid culture and immigrant life in the east end. A blend of rhymes, slang and poetic philosophy, on a mixture of live oud production and lo-fi hip hop beats.

Absolutely incredible music. It should be blasted through every speaker across the world in resistance to their attempts to silence Palestinian freedom. vales3000
